Freelance

DESCRIPTION

Our busy sewing workroom is always on the lookout for experienced and talented freelancers to assist in the manufacturing of our drapes.

Drapemakers is a drape manufacturers working within Presentation Design Services in Derby. You can learn more about what we do right here.

As a freelancer you will be required to use the company’s industrial sewing machines, overlocker and other workroom equipment to manufacture theatrical drapes and other fabric items under the instruction of the Workroom Manager and Manufacturing Supervisor.

Precision and attention to detail is crucial within the role.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of working with industrial sewing machines is essential
  • Experience of working in the live events or theatre industries would be beneficial

SKILLS

  • Ability to handle large fabrics which can be heavy is essential
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with other members of the team, and to be able to respond to changing deadlines throughout the day is essential
  • Comfortable with working away from base at customers’ venues would be beneficial

Freelance

DESCRIPTION

Our busy workshop is currently on the look-out for an experienced and talented Scenic Bench Joiner based at our unit in Derby.

Presentation Design Services is a live events production company based in Derby check out the rest of our site to get a feel for the types of work we do.

As a freelance Scenic Bench joiner you will play a key role in supporting the manufacturing and production process for any of our event work. You’ll work from drawings produced from within our design department to fabricate high quality set pieces for large-scale event work.

Precision and attention to detail is crucial within the role.

You’ll work on a freelance basis dependant on the busyness of the workshop department. Whilst working here you’ll be able to increase your creative skills, technical knowledge, time management as well as you manufacturing skills.

EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in joinery (or similar higher education training).
  • Time served joiner.
  • Relevant industry experience through placement or work experience is advantageous, but not essential.

SKILLS

  • Enthusiastic and passionate about woodwork.
  • Knowledge of scenic construction techniques & creation of set elements utilising  CNC parts.
  • Competency working from technical drawings.
  • Ability to work with a range of tools, equipment & materials.
  • Attention to detail.
  • A flair for creativity & working on bespoke one off items, from start to finish.
  • Able to work collaboratively with a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent time management, organisational skills & a strong work ethic.
  • Able to take direction and build on feedback.
  • A willingness to keep learning.

Freelance

DESCRIPTION

Our warehouse is always looking for warehouse technicians to assist our busy building based operations in Derby.

Presentation Design Services is a live events production company based in Derby, check out the rest of our site to get a feel for the types of work that we do.

As a freelance warehouse technician you will support the pre-production process for events alongside the day to day operations of the company. Everyday is varied and you’ll have the opportunity to be apart of the amazing work that we do. The warehouse works alongside other departments in the company pulling together all the different aspects of an event and ensuring it gets loaded out of the building on time.

EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant experience in the live events industry (not essential).
  • Experience of working within a warehouse environment (not essential).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under the instruction of the warehouse team, undertake the prep and de-prep of equipment for events.
  • Assist with the safe loading and un-loading of vehicles coming to and going from the building.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and checks of equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment at all times.
  • Adhere to the companies health and safety policies.
  • Work alongside other areas of the company as and when required.

SKILLS

  • High attention to detail.
  • Time management and organisational skills.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Enthusiastic and driven attitude.
