Last month saw us exhibit at Event Production Show at Olympia in London. It’s the very first time that we have showcased our Event Production talents at a live event trade show, and we came away feeling really good about our first exhibition exposure!

Being amongst our peers and industry competitors we felt the stand really needed to grab people’s attention from the outset. Our in-house Design team really took this on board and created a stand that not only showcased our design capabilities but the fact that we pride ourselves on our inventiveness and level of finish.

The design incorporated a branded 360-degree, rotating, light-up header which we wanted to look as if it was floating elegantly in the air. In order for this to rotate we utilised and harnessed our key in-house skills which combine both creativity and technical knowledge, based around a stock slip ring motor the central letter frame was suspended over the centre of the stand. The light-up letters were designed and built by PDS along with adding the LED strip to add the finishing touch.

We wanted to allow people to explore and find out more about who we are and what amazing things we can do. We felt the best way to achieve this was to create a bespoke touch-screen interactive kiosk. This allowed visitors to the stand to browse through photos and information about some of our biggest jobs.

The back wall was yet another inventive in-house idea whereby we mosaicked a series of five 42” LED screens and used two Datapath 4’s along with one Datapath DL8 to split a 4k video signal into the five screens. Use of special mosaicking software allowed us to deal with the screen bezel size and make sure the video appeared seamless across the entire mosaic.

The Beast from the East made an unwelcome appearance and unfortunately had an impact on visitor numbers, but we didn’t let that dampen our spirits and all in all we found it a valuable experience and a great way to showcase our talents within a top industry led environment.

“The 2018 Event Production show is the first time that PDS have chosen to exhibit at anything like this before, we have installed a large amount of exhibition stands for our clients over the years, but doing it for yourself adds a totally different level to the whole process. The stand showcased the raw talents that exist at the heart of PDS, combining both creativity and technology to create what we think was a totally unique stand at this particular exhibition. The whole experience was a totally positive one and further helped bolster our position within the events industry, despite the drifts of snow outside! We were over the moon with how many friends both new and old stopped by to see us, hopefully it was to see us and nothing to do with the free ice cream and fizz!” – James Johnson, Director
